This Saturday, NESN plans to do something different with its game production. When the Bruins take on Edmonton at the Garden, analyst Andy Brickley takes the position of NBC/TSN analyst Pierre McGuire and CBC’s Glen Healy, at ice level and positioned in between the Bruins’ and Oilers’ benches. He’ll remain there the entire game while play-by-play man Jack Edwards remains in the broadcast booth. This is what NESN is saying:
On Saturday, October 31st at 1:00 PM NESN Bruins color analyst Andy Brickley is getting benched…
NESN is moving Brickley to ice-level and positioning him between the Bruins and Oilers benches for the entire game to give him a different perspective while his broadcast partner Jack Edwards will call the game from his customary location in The Fred Cusick broadcast booth on the 9th level of TD Garden.
“Hockey is a game that is played with incredible passion and emotion,” said Joel Feld, NESN executive vice president of programming and executive producer. “By positioning Andy between the benches he will be able to provide a different perspective to Bruins fans watching at home.”
We’ll see if this adds anything and if NESN might bring a third analyst to the mix for selected games, perhaps Mike Milbury or Barry Pederson during the season.
